Born and raised in North Carolina, Brad Hubbard is considered one of the preeminent baritone saxophonist of his generation. Brad can be heard in a broad range of settings. From soloist in front of an orchestra to small chamber ensembles to jazz and commercial settings. Most notably in duo with Vibraphonist Lalo and his own Diametric Ensemble, a 5 piece chamber group. He will also be heard on an upcoming recording by the Monica Ashton Jazz Band playing flute in addition to baritone saxophone. Benjamin Boonešs Concerto for Baritone Saxophone and Orchestra was written for and premiered by Brad in 2003. As a member of New Century Saxophone Quartet from 1988 through 2004, he appears on all 6 New Century recordings and traveled extensively with the quartet in the United States, Europe, Asia and Central America. New Century Saxophone Quartet was the 1992 winner of the Concert Artist Guild International Competition, the only saxophone quartet to ever reach the finals, as well as a command performance for President Clinton in the East Room of the White House. Brad has also appeared as a member of various orchestras and in various jazz and commercial groups. Mr. Hubbard also has music published by ALRY Publications.
As an active educator Brad has maintained a private teaching studio since 1989. He has been a Teaching Artist for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Centeršs Chamber Music Beginnings program, Orchestra of St. Lukešs, Education Through Music, Inc., Create!, and was a Project Liberty counselor from 2002 -2004. Brad was the Saxophone Instructor at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina from 1996-1999. Brad is an artist endorser for Rico Grand Concert Select Reeds. He lives in New York City with his wife Twinkle and son Ezra.
